Sometimes innovation does not begin with replacing equipment.

It begins by looking more closely at what is already there.

For years, this weighbridge had been doing exactly what it was designed to do.

A vehicle arrived.
The weight was measured.
A paper ticket was printed.

The equipment worked, but the process around it was slow and heavily reliant on manual administration.

Tickets had to be collected, sorted, matched to the correct vehicle and entered into another system. This took time and created opportunities for information to be delayed, duplicated or recorded incorrectly.

Replacing the entire weighbridge would have been expensive and unnecessary. The equipment itself was still reliable.

The real challenge was that it was considered a closed system. It was older technology that had never been designed to connect with modern digital platforms.

But hidden inside was a small communication port already sending weight information to the printer.

That connection became our starting point.

Greenstalk developed a solution that transformed the existing weighbridge into a connected, highly efficient system.

We introduced a touchscreen kiosk to simplify the on-site process, integrated CCTV for vehicle recognition and created a digital tracker to record vehicle movements throughout the site.

The weight is now captured digitally, along with the time it was measured and the vehicle and load it relates to. This information can be viewed remotely and automatically shared with the sales office, creating a clear and accurate electronic record.

The result is better visibility, improved traceability and a far more efficient process from vehicle arrival through to departure.

The weighbridge remained.

The paperwork did not.
