Crop4Sight

Providing potato crop management from the ground up. Based on variety specific data and key physiological milestones, Crop4Sight allows growers to objectively benchmark potato crop performance from seed to harvest. Benchmarking against crop milestones allows adjustment of crop targets, such as optimum yield, in season to deliver maximum commercial returns.

Paul Coleman, Crop4Sight, on the challenges of time…

The theme of the REAP conference is time; Paul explains why this topic is so relevant to Crop4Sight. “In many ways, Crop4Sight was developed precisely to address the issue of time. Optimal timing for planting, applying crop inputs, irrigation, burndown, etc, can all be accurately worked out by the app, removing any need for guesswork. This produces demonstrable efficiencies in a farm business as well as increasing crop quality, producing a greater saleable yield, and ultimately driving profitability.

Improved yields under uncertain conditions: Crop4Sight at the Innovation Hub

As extreme conditions seem to be getting more frequent, tools that enable growers to mitigate the impacts within the growing season will be invaluable. Crop4Sight is aiming to do just that with its growth tracker that uses imaging via the camera-phone and Bluetooth enabled scales to allow farmers to benchmark crop development.

Crop4Sight has launched the UK’s first dynamic seed rate tool for planning potato crops

Optimising the seed rate (t/ha of input seed) is a crucial first step in efficient potato crop production, because it controls the plant, stem and tuber population. Crop tuber populations need to be matched to the target yield to achieve the required net yield. To help achieve this Crop4Sight has launched the UK’s first dynamic seed rate tool for planning potato crops. It generates target benchmarks for stem and tuber populations from the very start of the season.
