Dr Dedola has developed a tool for identifying viruses
Dr Dedola of Iceni Diagnostics

“In any infectious disease outbreak, it is important to identify carriers of disease quickly as this is key to controlling the spread of infection” says Dr Simone Dedola, R&D Manager at Iceni Diagnostics.
Iceni Diagnostics is developing a series of tests for Influenza strains affecting horses, birds and also humans and will provide an update in the Innovation Hub.
About 90 per cent of viruses use strings of sugars called glycans to recognise target cells.  These sugars are therefore applicable to the diagnosis of many diseases but the patented Iceni Diagnostics technology is amongst the first to use this for flu diagnosis.
The company will be taking questions for one day only at the Innovation Hub, Wednesday 1st July.
