In late 2025 at Syngenta‘s global R&D centre at Jealott’s Hill we gathered representatives from the UK agri‑life sciences community to debate how we can de‑risk and scale globally. The dialogue was excellent – diverse challenges, but strong alignment across stakeholders.

The roundtable discussion convened a community of thought leaders from the agri-tech, engineering biology, agricultural life sciences, and policy ecosystem to harness the opportunities from the Government’s Modern Industrial Strategy and explore what it can mean for our industry. The strategy presents a significant opportunity to position the UK as a global leader in frontier sectors – where biology meets technology – and to unlock the full potential of innovation, talent, and infrastructure.

The group discussed:

  • How to harness the UK’s collective capabilities to address global solutions for agriculture and horticulture
  • Addressing the challenges of scaling businesses to unlock global markets
  • Exploring how the Industrial Strategy aligns with the mega trends and the commercial reality of harnessing the opportunities
  • The key steps needed to make the promise a reality within the next decade
