About the Job
We have one funded intern position available this summer through the Royal Society of Biology Plant Health Undergraduate Studentships programme funded by DEFRA.
This is a fully funded 10 week placement (~£412/week) working with us at BugBiome on aphid insecticides based in Norwich.
Our Project: Microbes vs Aphids
Aphids cause up to 50% crop yield losses, and resistance to chemical insecticides is accelerating the need for biological alternatives.
In this project, you’ll:
– Isolate microbial strains from crops
– Run insect assays to identify which microbes effect the aphids and how the microbe effects the aphids (mode of action)
You’ll gain hands-on experience in:
– Microbial isolation & culturing
– Experimental design & screening pipelines
– Plant–microbe–insect interactions
About You
