Financial Controller
About the Job
The Role
Rothamsted Research is seeking an exceptional Financial Controller to manage our finance and procurement services and help shape the future of our organisation.
This is an influential role within a collaborative environment, offering you the opportunity to support world‑class scientific research.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver high‑quality financial and management accounting services
- Prepare draft financial statements and supporting schedules
- Oversee fixed asset accounting and capital grant claims
- Manage VAT processes and quarterly returns
- Check and posting payroll journals
- Manage sales invoicing and credit control
- Oversee purchase invoice processing and supplier payments
- Complete bank reconciliations and ensuring accurate month‑end close
- Produce timely, insightful management accounts
- Lead the annual budgeting process
- Ensure financial processes, controls, and procedures follow best practice
- Support cross‑functional workstreams and organisational initiatives
About You
Do you have expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, modelling, and long‑term strategy?
Can you demonstrate leadership experience in finance and procurement environments, with a focus on continuous improvement and talent development?
