Will the chickpea yield of 2026 reach the heights of last year?

That’s what Will Evans aims to find out with this year’s minor crop trials that were on show at PGRO’s Pulse Open Day earlier this month.

Over the last few years Will has run trials with crops such as lentils, chickpeas and lupins to see how viable they are to grow in the UK, and after a number of successful trials, including last year’s chickpea trials which produced an exceptionally high yield, Will is finding that more UK farmers are becoming interested in growing minor crops as part of their rotation.
