Summertime is synonymous of the delicious Great British Berries, when they dominate supermarket shelves. But do you know how they start their journey?

Come and join us for one summer evening at Place UK, one of the largest producers of soft fruits in the UK.

The team is opening its door to show us round different growing systems for strawberries, raspberries and blackberries.

You will get to see how the business has optimised irrigation, how ground heat is used to provide optimal growing conditions for fruits, and how UV lighting is used to control pests (spoiler alert, this involves robots!).

Who is this event for?

We welcome early-career individuals from a variety of backgrounds including research, agronomy, engineering, consultancy, farming and tech development.

Whether you’ve recently graduated, are at the beginning of your professional career, changing careers, are embarking on postgraduate/further education studies, or are new to agriculture, come and learn about innovations in fruit production.

Why should I attend?

  • Farmers & Growers: explore what technology you could implement on your farm

  • Early-career researchers: understand soft fruit growers challenges and how your research can help

  • Consultants & agronomists: discover innovations that can improve your clients’ productivity
