Upton Suffolk Farms

Upton Suffolk Farms is part of a progressive and diverse estate owned by the Upton family. Growing high quality crops for well-respected customers. We embrace technology and look to implement it to increase quality, yields, improve the soil and the environment.

Potatoes

Salads, packing whites and Maris Piper, grown for the prepack and food service markets. Maris Peer grown for home saved seed production.

Onions

Only sets are grown due to the risk of fusarium all grown for the prepack market.

3900t of short- and long-term storage, storage after the sets is hired out to a packer.

Maize & AD Rye

Grown for an onsite anaerobic digester producing gas for the national grid. Harvested by a contractor.

Carrots, Equestrian & Pigs

Land let on agreements of varying length.

Rye

Grown on contract for seed production

Sugar Beet

Our own production and contract growing for a neighbour.

Cover Crops

Grown to increase the soil biology, improve crop nutrition and create wildlife habitats. These are generally grazed by a flying flock of sheep.

Various ELS, HLS schemes, and woods.

Other projects

Solar Panels on roofs and field scale.

Wood chip boilers to heat various buildings

AD plant to generate gas for the grid supplying 3,000 homes, we use all the liquid and solid by products on the farm to improve soil structure and reduce fertilizer requirements.
