We are growing a network of decentralised AI powered insect mini-farms, enhanced and connected by technology, to empower farmers to use nature’s missing link in the food chain. Our Better Origin X1 is plug & play, and can be grouped into a system, making it easily scalable for farmers. Individual units can also supply regional processing units, allowing the nutrients from organic matter to be converted into useable output across the network.
Better Origin arose from collaboration between the academic research of Cambridge University and the expertise of the Cambridge Technology cluster. Our leadership team has strong expertise in solving complex and critical global problems, and a world-class knowledge of the science behind insect bioconversion.
Everything we do is backed by science and technology driven and we have conducted trials with leading research institutes such as University of Cambridge, University of Stirling, University of Bristol and University of Turin to demonstrate the benefits of using insects both to reduce food waste and to expand food production capacity.
Our mission is to establish the ‘Internet of Insects’; a global network converting excess nutrients into essential nutrients. This will reconnect our biomass streams with the limitless natural process of bioconversion, locally. By doing so, the Internet of Insects will bring about a new symbiosis between nature and technology to transform livestock productivity and welfare, reduce carbon emissions and achieve food security.
