At Albotherm we are developing greenhouse shade paints that reversibly transition from transparent to white as outdoor temperatures rise. Our technology works without any electrical input, making it a hassle free and environmentally friendly alternative to electrical cooling solutions.
Our paints are tunable to transition temperatures between 18 °C and 45 °C, creating optimal conditions for any crop in any climate. They can be sprayed onto greenhouses in the same way as standard chalk based shade paints however our paints allow more light to reach crops and do not need to be removed and reapplied, increasing crop yields while lowering operating costs.
Our paint can stay on all year round as they let the full spectrum of PAR light pass through when cold, maximising light levels on cooler days where shade paints would typically block the majority of light. The gradual transition between transparent and white means the level of shading is appropriate to outdoor temperature and it also helps prevent crop stress due to sudden changes in light or temperature.
We are currently seeking partners interested in trialling our technology or working on a joint development project.
