AF is the UK’s largest agricultural purchasing co-operative and works with thousands of farmers across the UK.

AF Bursary encourages farmers and students to participate in REAP

AF has seen farming businesses adopt more and more technology, Tom Carter, Head of Membership & Marketing says that the organisation is pleased to work closely with Agri-TechE to help them build a hub of global innovation. Tom said: “Agriculture stands at a crossroads as it navigates some of the most fundamental changes to the industry in a generation. Now, more than ever, collaboration and innovation is needed to help farmers adapt and thrive to these new changes. On-farm power generation moving beyond incentives

About 50 per cent of AF Group farmers have invested in or have access to green energy, and renewables are becoming more core to the business as the benefits become more valuable than government incentives. Jon Duffy, AF Group Chief Executive, comments that: “Although early installations focused on taking advantage of incentives to help farmers diversify their businesses and create extra revenue, more recently our members have been designing and installing systems according to their own consumption patterns.

GROW nurtures good business ideas

Anglia Farmers were industry champions of the GROW 2016 competition, and Peter Macdonald, Head of Procurement, comments: “I think it is particularly the younger people that we should be targeting with GROW, especially those who have skills in engineering and technology and can look at the industry with fresh eyes.” Anglia Farmers supports ‘Next Generation’ which is aimed at up-and-coming farmers aged 20-40 and has a series of regular events looking at different aspects of farming.

REAP bursary for farmers and growers

To encourage as many farmers and growers as possible to attend REAP, there is a bursary this year to offer a number of discounted places. The bursary has been made possible by sponsorship from Anglia Farmers (AF), the UK’s largest agricultural purchasing group. Clarke Willis, Anglia Farmers Chief Executive said: “We are pleased to be able to provide bursaries to enable growers and farmers to attend the conference and hear about the latest developments in agri-tech.
