Mental Health First Aid Training Discount
Farming is a cornerstone of the United Kingdom’s economy and cultural heritage. The agricultural sector contributes significantly to the nation’s food supply, rural employment, and environmental stewardship. However, the farming industry faces numerous challenges, including volatile market prices, unpredictable weather patterns, and stringent regulatory demands. These pressures can significantly impact the mental well-being of farmers and agricultural workers. Given the mental health challenges faced by those in the farming community, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training is crucial. With training and an increased awareness of Mental Health, we can help to spot the signs early that someone may need support, reduce the stigma around mental health, build resilience within the farming community and enhance wellbeing.
Donna Willimott is a trained Mental Health First Aider and Mental Health First Aid Instructor. Supported by her employer, (farming business Greens of Soham), she is looking to enhance the knowledge and skills within the farming industry relating to mental health.
The RRP for Mental Health First Aid England qualification training is £300pp, but for £100 Agri-TechE members can attend the full course. Courses available online and in person.
As a MHFAider® you will be able to:
- Recognise those that may be experiencing poor mental health and provide them with first-level support and early intervention
- Encourage a person to identify and access sources of professional help and other supports
- Practise active listening and empathy
- Have a conversation with improved mental health literacy around language and stigma
- Practise self-care
- Know how to access a dedicated text service provided by Shout and ongoing learning opportunities with MHFA England
If you would like to register your interest in a MHFA course, please do so using the link here or contact Donna on 07741 312755 with any queries.
