Environmental Intelligence and Emissions Monitoring Grant: Unlocking Space for Business

The UK Space Agency has just announced funding that offers agriculture, forestry, land management and natural capital businesses the opportunity to pilot new solutions that use satellite data to monitor land, nature and emissions.

The Unlocking Space for Business Environmental Intelligence and Emissions Grant Call offers up to £400,000 per project. In-scope examples include agricultural emissions monitoring, monitoring and verification of biodiversity, habitat condition and nature recovery outcomes, and natural capital and ecosystem service monitoring that reduces the cost and complexity of reporting.

Key points of note:

• Projects must address one of the two challenge areas:
  • Environmental Intelligence for Climate, Nature and Natural Capital: improving environmental decision making, monitoring and verification for end-user UK businesses through the use of space-enabled solutions.
  • Environmental Emissions Monitoring and Verification: enhancing the identification, monitoring, reporting and verification of emissions for end-user UK businesses through space-enabled solutions, to support organisational and national sustainability objectives.
• Projects must be led by a UK end-user business, working with a UK space supplier
• Projects run for up to 9 months from January 2027, with match funding required
