Agri-TechE is pleased to once again support the Tesco Agri T-Jam 2025 offering early-stage agri-tech innovators an opportunity to explore how their solutions align with the needs of the UK’s leading retailer and its supply chain partners.

We’re working with Tesco and innovation platform Leading Edge Only (LEO) to promote this opportunity across our ecosystem. As part of this collaboration, Tesco is offering the winning start-up a year’s membership of Agri-TechE and a speaking slot at our REAP 2025 conference to share their innovation with a highly engaged audience.

We’ve seen that the most successful outcomes come from those who use the experience to test assumptions, gain feedback, and start a dialogue. Agri-TechE Director Dr Belinda Clarke explains:

“We’re pleased to continue working with Tesco on the Agri T-Jam. It’s a valuable opportunity for start-ups to understand how their innovation might be viewed from a supply chain perspective – what resonates, what needs refining, and how to shape the proposition to fit within real-world systems.

That kind of feedback can be hugely valuable, especially at an early stage.”

Applications for the 2025 T-Jam are now open until Monday 30th June 2025, and will culminate in a pitch day where selected finalists present their solutions to Tesco and its partners.

What is Tesco looking for?

The Tesco Agri T-Jam invites start-ups from around the world to pitch technologies that contribute to the retailer’s wider sustainability goals, including achieving net zero, restoring nature, and improving animal health and welfare. Entries are being welcomed that address:

  • Animal Health & Welfare

  • Water Quality & Use
  • Rapid Disease Diagnostics
  • Agricultural Waste Reduction
  • Crop Loss and Food Waste Reduction
  • GHG Emissions Reduction
  • Responsible Reduction in Chemical Inputs (pesticides and antibiotics)
  • Biodiversity Support

What’s on offer for the winner?

Following the application and selection process, up to ten start-ups will be shortlisted to pitch at the T-Jam pitch day, with the winner receiving:

  • Mentoring and feedback from Tesco’s Sustainable Agriculture & Fisheries team
  • Fast-track introductions via LEO to Tesco’s supply chain network
  • A potential trial with one of Tesco’s supply chain partners
  • Agri-TechE membership (Hecto)

Natalie Smith, Head of Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries at Tesco, said: “We’re committed to developing and implementing innovative sustainable agriculture practices across our supply chains. Agri T-Jam is now an established gateway into the Tesco network for start-ups and innovators, and we’re hopeful the competition can help all our finalists further develop their work in the sector.”

Spotlight at REAP 2025

As part of the prize, the winning T-Jam start-up will take to the stage at the REAP 2025 Conference, taking place on 4th November 2025.

Now in its twelfth year, REAP is Agri-TechE ‘s flagship event where science, innovation and agriculture converge. The 2025 theme – Connect, Co-Develop and Co-Exist – reflects the growing need for collaborative, systems-based innovation in agriculture.
