REAP bursary for farmers and growers

Ploughing over winter wheat stubble for peas - Norfolk, February - Anglia Farmers

To encourage as many farmers and growers as possible to attend REAP, there is a bursary this year to offer a number of discounted places.

The bursary has been made possible by sponsorship from Anglia Farmers (AF), the UK’s largest agricultural purchasing group.

Clarke Willis, Anglia Farmers Chief ExecutiveClarke Willis, AF chief executive (pictured), said: “We are pleased to be able to provide bursaries to enable growers and farmers to attend the conference and hear about the latest developments in agri-tech.

“Highlighting technological advancements and generating new opportunities for farmers sits naturally alongside our drive to provide excellent value for money for our members and to continually deliver excellence in agricultural purchasing.”

REAP takes places on Wednesday 9 November at the Wellcome Genome Campus Conference Centre in Cambridge. It will look at how technology drawn from other sectors and radical new thinking has the power to create transformational change for agriculture. The bursaries will allow farmers to attend the conference for just £50 – instead of the full rate of £200.

Agri-Tech East is building a hub of global agri-tech innovation in the east of England and the needs of farmers and growers are at the heart of this.

Clarke Willis continued: “We’re delighted to be able to support this bursary to encourage farmers and growers to attend the REAP conference. Technology is such a key part of our industry and will play an increasingly important role in farming businesses in the future, so it’s crucial that we share knowledge and ideas to keep up to date with the latest developments, and conferences like REAP are an ideal way to do this.”

Agri-Tech East Director Dr Belinda Clarke says: “We are delighted Anglia Farmers are making it possible for any farmer, or full time agriculture student to attend the REAP conference. Farmers are the end-users of almost all of the new innovations that are developed within our ecosystem, so it’s really important that they are part of the discussions at REAP.”

Anyone in the UK who is a grower or farmer, of who is in full-time education in agriculture is eligible to apply.

To apply, please download, complete and return the application form (as a pdf document or a Word document) to info@agri-tech-e.co.uk, including answering the following question: Why is agricultural innovation important in your business or future career and what opportunities do you see in your future? Entries must be received by 1 October, and applicants will hear by 10 October if they have been successful.
