Profile at Industry events
The Royal Norfolk Show is one of the UK’s oldest agricultural shows – it celebrates 175 years in 2022. However, it has always been ahead of its time and sharing innovative practice was the original inspiration for the show.
The Innovation Hub, hosted by Agri-TechE at the Royal Norfolk Show, creates an opportunity for members of Agri-TechE to showcase emerging technologies and for visitors to drop in and discuss new technology or a challenge directly with a technologist or researcher.
REAP: Agri-TechE’s flagship conference – 8th November 2022
REAP brings together people from across the agri-tech ecosystem who believe that innovation is the engine for change. The conference bridges the gap between producer needs and technology solutions and showcases exciting agri-tech start-ups.
Delegates include farmers and growers, researchers and technology developers, entrepreneurs and investors, as well as professional and commercial service providers. They share an interest in developing and deploying new technology, stimulating fresh thinking and applying best practice to make a difference to agriculture and horticulture – in the UK and beyond.
The conference includes inspirational speakers and discussions, a start-up showcase, insights into emerging agriculture, international delegations and extensive networking opportunities.
“101” Events
Following the success of our “Agriculture 101” day long course, this year we are also adding “On-Farm Research 101” to this series of events.
These unique one-day introductions provide valuable insights for participants, exploring the opportunities and some of the challenges.
For “Agriculture 101” attendees working within and outside of the sector explore the sector to gain further understanding. Agri-food production is a growing industry that offers opportunities for the application of technologies and services developed for and by other industries, however the successful implementation of these solutions requires domain knowledge.
For “On-Farm Research 101” will provide a deep dive into the opportunities, challenges and parties involved in farm-led research, as well practical advice on starting, recording and evaluating trials.
Young Innovators’ Forum conference – 10th March 2022
The YIF conference is hosted yearly, attended by those early in their career from a variety of backgrounds, all sharing an interest in agricultural innovation, including farm practice, consultancy, technology development and research. Bringing the group together around innovative and pioneering locations, we endeavour to generate conversation, inspire participants, new thinking and collaborations while also bridging the gap between research and production.
YIF is kindly sponsored by The Morley Agricultural Foundation (TMAF).
Agri-tech missions
There has been considerable growth in Agri-TechE’s international activities and memberships in recent years, and we have a number of initiatives planned for 2022.
We will build on some of the activities of last year, which included a well-attended virtual mission hosted with the British Embassy Warsaw, which saw farmers and agri-tech companies from a consortium of four countries – Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia – networking with the Agri-TechE ecosystem.
A new partnership with Western Growers Association – an organisation that represents family farmers across California, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico, providing over half of America’s fresh fruits, vegetables and tree nut. The collaborative programme looked at opportunities for automation in the fruit and vegetable sectors.
The participation of international delegations in the International Cafe at REAP 2021.
Agri-TechE is in a great position to support missions and similar initiatives with other overseas markets, to further foster international partnerships, innovation and growth for our members. In addition, we continue to work with a number of other overseas businesses to support them in developing agri-tech networks and clusters. Please get in touch with us if you’d like to discuss your ideas for international collaboration and agri-tech development.
