ADAS, part of the RSK Group is looking to appoint a Crop Research Consultant to work remotely and report into one of the ADAS offices in any of the following locations: Cambridge, Nottingham or North Yorkshire. This role is a full time, permanent opportunity.
You will join a multi-disciplinary team of research scientists and consultants located across the UK. The post holder will work within the Crop Physiology group but will be expected to bridge across to the crop protection, soil, horticulture, GIS and modelling groups within ADAS.
We require a research consultant with the knowledge and drive to further develop our business in improving sustainable crop productivity.
The crop research role will include:
Delivering into a range of projects managed by the Crop Physiology group.
Managing projects from inception to reporting, including the deployment of resource and equipment.
Analysing and interpreting large datasets.
Distilling project findings into key messages for clients and transferring these to end users via reports and presentations to a range of audiences.
Taking a lead role in managing key accounts in the crop production and precision farming sectors, and developing innovative new services and products to meet market needs.
Developing the profile of the ADAS capability through platform speaking at grower meetings and conferences, publishing in peer reviewed journals and popular press articles.
Successful candidates will:
Be qualified to at least degree level, in a biological or crop production related discipline
Demonstrate knowledge of arable and forage crop production and have a good understanding of the challenges facing the food production industry
Demonstrate strong ability for analysing and organising large, complex datasets. R coding skills desirable, but not essential.
Have the ability to write reports, scientific papers and bids that are clear, logical and persuasive to meet the needs of clients and achieve the communication objectives for ADAS.
Be able to communicate effectively with a range of audiences to transfer the knowledge gained.
Demonstrate the ability to develop effective working relationships with clients and collaborators.
What we offer:
Salary up to £33,000
25 days annual leave per year, increasing to 30 days, plus bank and public holidays
