Welcome to the IAgrE

The Institution of Agricultural Engineers (IAgrE) is the only professional body catering for those working in engineering, science and technology in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, groundscare and other specialised land-based industries. Whether you are working in ground breaking new agri-tech or more traditional areas like tractors and combines or horticultural technology and soil science, we cover it all, the common theme being the land.

Whether you are experienced in the agri-tech sector or newly involved, IAgrE can be a great source of information to support you in your work. We put on a variety of content such as conferences, seminars, awards and podcasts for our members. Being a member of IAgrE is also a great way make the work you are involved with more visible to the wider industry, especially important if you are trying to get new ideas off the ground.

IAgrE publishes the Landwards journal, a quarterly publication packed with articles covering many diverse areas, from student projects to ground breaking agri-tech. Landwards is a great means for members to publicise projects they are involved with in order to generate interest. We also publish the leading international academic journal, Biosystems Engineering, which is packed full of academic research from around the world.

We are licensed by both the Engineering Council and the Society for the Environment to award professional recognition, such as CEng. If you’re proud of your achievements, then why not get yourself registered, top employers expect it and fully support it, it will also help your career development. Being a registered member of IAgrE can provide enhanced credibility to the role you perform, which is important if you are new to the sector. We provide support for education and training in our sector such as recognition and accreditation of training courses, apprenticeships, degrees, etc. and we advise on course content to ensure the learning material is right for industry.

This Institution is for you if you have an interest in Agriculture, Forestry, Environment, Horticulture, Amenity or any other land-based industry. We have a diverse membership so you are sure to find like minded individuals. Membership of IAgrE will enhance your professional standing, your professional knowledge and your professional networks.
