Top News and Upcoming Events
Keeping it clean with agri-tech innovation
Activated air, electrolysed water and free radicals are emerging alternatives to chemistry for sustaining the life span of fruit and vegetables, improving the quality of seed and reducing risk of contamination in food processing.
New innovations – including a highly effective, additive-free approach to seed sterilisation that offers a fourfold increase in the germination rate of wheat – are to be discussed for the first time at the Agri-TechE Explore virtual meeting on 19th January 2021.
Innovation in Field Harvest Automation with Western Growers
Our strategic partnership with the Western Growers Association kicks off on 27th January with an introduction to the US growers on the West Coast and the challenges they are facing as they produce over half the nation’s fresh fruits, vegetables and tree nuts.
The WGA is one of the biggest grower groups in the world and it is working with Agri-TechE to source technologies and platforms to roll out across their farms. Market opportunities don’t get much bigger than this! To join us, click here – FREE for members, charge for non members.
On the road to net zero - a creativity workshop for members
The ambition to achieve net zero will impact every farm, technology business and service provider. This facilitated workshop aims to make you think differently about the challenges ahead. Using specially-designed artefacts and collaborative exercises it will inspire us to generate an innovation roadmap towards a better future.
Join us for this FREE mind-expanding online workshop on 4th February 2-5pm; watch the video to find out what to expect from this interactive event. We’ll also be hearing an overview from Chris Brown, Asda’s Head of Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing.
Events announced for 2021 including new Agri-Tech Express
Hemp and cannabis, advanced breeding of crops and livestock, Controlled Environment Agriculture, innovations for on-farm safety – the events for 2021 provide a snapshot of trends in this dynamic industry and first view of innovations that will become new industry standards.
New for 2021: Agri-Tech Express. In addition to the monthly events and day conferences, we are introducing Agri-Tech Express, with a single speaker on a topical issue followed by a quick-fire Q&A.

REAP and Agri-Tech Week - virtual events proved popular
Our 2020 conference was our biggest REAP ever – with almost double the exhibitors and more delegates than ever before, we’ve been blown away by the feedback and the number of meetings and connections made. Watch out for the REAP report landing after Christmas, but for now check out the Start-Ups and Emerging Agri-Tech, not to mention the amazing David Montgomery who joined our farmer delegates for a trans-Atlantic virtual beer afterwards

Virtual Missions so you don’t miss out
Strengthening relationships with businesses in Europe and globally has never been so important, and Agri-TechE is leading the charge with a number of virtual missions in 2021.
Join a business matchmaking event with businesses in eastern and central Europe on 18th March. The event, in conjunction with the British Embassy in Warsaw, will give members of our network the opportunity to network and connect with agri-tech businesses in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia (the ‘V4’ countries). Attendees will also get to hear about the significant opportunities that agricultural improvement and innovation in these countries will provide. Sign up here.
We’re also going Stateside: Missouri is the heartland for 50 per cent of US crop and livestock production. Deepening our relationship with this exciting agri-tech cluster, we are planning a virtual mission for April 2021; find out more about the opportunities in Missouri.

New Farming Investment Fund announced by the government as part of a package of measures to ease the transition to a low carbon future
New funding for new technology is in addition to an increased investment in a programme of farmer-led R&D projects, which aim to trial and demonstrate the viability of new and existing technologies.
Technologies will be selected to address immediate on-farm productivity challenges as well as research into how agriculture can meet its longer term goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve net zero.
