Suffolk New College is based in Suffolk with campuses at Suffolk Rural in Otley for land-based provision, at Ipswich, and ‘On the Coast’ at Leiston & Halesworth.
The College focuses upon providing a curriculum that meets the needs of students, employers and the wider community. The offer takes into account the needs of providing a skilled workforce for the future through short courses for industry, apprenticeships and higher education, as well as programmes for adults and young people.
Nine curriculum areas are providing an extensive range of learning, including Land-Based (Agriculture, Horticulture and Arboriculture); Animal & Equine; Science and Digital Industries; Care Industries; Creative Arts; Engineering and Construction; Service Industries; Foundation Learning; English and Mathematics; English as a Second Language
The College also has plans to develop further the use of Agri-tech in the curriculum at Suffolk Rural – site of the College Farm and Horticultural facilities. By utilising such resources as drone technology for crop and animal monitoring and by establishing a Suffolk agricultural engineering centre, the land-based team are working with industry-leading associates to provide a truly exceptional student experience. We are also developing plans to invest in resources to support the local Food Industry. Our close relationships with a number of stakeholders in land-based sectors result in a training offer that it continuously focused on the skills required for the future.
The College’s Strategic Plan, outlines how they will support projects such as the Sizewell C Nuclear Power project. In addition to the ‘On the Coast’ developments, an exciting new state-of-the-art Tech Campus is currently being built beside the Ipswich Campus, – another indicator of the College’s response to employer need.
