Spectrum Aviation is an aerial survey and informatics company, specialising in agricultural vegetation analysis for precision agriculture.
Their vision is that remote sensing will rapidly become a routine and indispensable agronomic tool, used across the industry to contribute to holistic farm management practices at tactical in-season and longer-term strategic levels.
Spectrum actively delivers practical crop imaging applications that add value to agricultural businesses. Their core capabilities span sensor payload design and certification, data gathering, in-house image and data processing, through to derived product delivery. Interpretation and diagnostic follow-up can be provided by Spectrum’s independent agronomist partners, or linked into existing customer agronomy service provider networks.
Spectrum’s aviation model is deliberately based on the lightest commercial class of manned aircraft to improve on the price point of drone, multi-engine aircraft and satellite platforms, while matching or bettering the quality of the output data.
This lean model achieves low enough unit costs to afford multiple overflights per season, allowing the efficient monitoring of crop performance from establishment through to harvest. Imagery is timed to show conditions of interest that offer an opportunity to intervene, and new techniques are being added through research investment in emerging technologies and techniques.
Application design is customer led rather than imposed and their services have been practically proven at scale, in real-world commercial and operational environments. Spectrum has an established UK customer base including some of the largest growers and grower groups, research organisations and agri-chem manufacturers and is currently expanding into Europe and Africa.
