This month, we're reflecting on Agri-Tech Week and REAP, thinking about new opportunities and looking forward to our 2018 calendar.

Agri-Tech East's December Newsletter

Facilitating collaboration and networking is the key aim of Agri-Tech East, and it has been none more apparent than during the course of Agri-Tech Week. At REAP we not only gave our delegates the chance to mingle and share ideas (for more on sharing ideas see this month’s blog), but our keynote speaker Maria Beatriz Giraudo also emphasised the value of networking on a local, national and international scale to test new ideas and learn from others' mistakes.
We also announced at REAP a shared appointment with AHDB to accelerate the adoption of innovation in the field - could YOU be our new Knowledge and Innovation Facilitator?
Even this month’s Professional Insights is about networking, as GROW finalist Jonathan Tole argues that prioritising people is vital to gain benefit from new technology.
As 2017 draws to a close we’d like to thank all our members, sponsors and participants for another exciting year of growth and opportunity for UK agri-tech and look forward to a bright New Year.

Counting the Cost (and Value) of Natural Capital;
24 Jan '18, Norwich Research Park

Managing land use requires many complex decisions. Natural environments offer benefits in the form of ecosystem services – fresh water, flood abatement, insect pollinators, wind breaks – but how do we value these contributions and reward those who maintain them?
This is the question we are discussing in our first Pollinator of 2018 with experts from Cranfield University, LEAF and Natural England. Everyone is welcome, no charge for our members, please click here to register.
PIPS, Jobs and Opps - Member Give-and-Get Exchange 2018; 15 Mar '18, NIAB Park Farm, Cambridge
Our next member-exclusive, free event is scheduled for March next year. This time, we'll bring together some of the brightest PhD students looking for opportunities, with some of the leading businesses and organisations in the Agri-Tech East network wanting to host an intern or recruit from the science base. Members are invited to give a 2 minute overview of their business, highlighting the opportunities for collaboration and partnership, or a call-to-arms for early career scientists seeking their next exciting opportunity. Find out more and register.

Agri-Tech Week 2017
A huge thank you to everyone who hosted, organised or attended events for Agri-Tech Week. Events ranged from water catchments and metaldehyde, to adding value to horticultural waste, discussions about agricultural economics and tractor tyre innovations – we were so pleased to see so many people taking part in the week of activities. It was an enlightening week and prompted many discussions.
